    Six myths that kill PTE scores — and what works instead

    I should sound like a native speaker.
    Pearson scores clarity, not accent. Stay consistent — don’t mix Australian, American and your own.
    Speak fast and non-stop for fluency.
    Natural speech wins. Use chunks, intonation, stress and pitch — not a robotic monotone.
    Just read the first sentence in Read Aloud.
    Read every sentence. The full passage warms your muscles for the next speaking tasks.
    Repeat 70–80% of words in Repeat Sentence.
    It’s active memory, not a percentage game. Visualise the chunk, deliver the meaning.
    Skip Answer Short Question — it’s tiny.
    It contributes to your Listening score. One word, three to four marks. Always attempt.
    Templates make Describe Image safe.
    Post Aug-2025, repetition and templates hurt. Name the image, list components, highlight what matters.
